Time to act on errant private universities

With just a few days on the September 2011 the Ministry of education for private universities in the country on permanent campus to move time limit laid down, it's time for the Minister of education to his word and by the fact that no longer moving universities an example set new students. According to a report Sunday in the new age front-paged only nine out of 54 universities in its permanent campus as a Saturday can move. Some universities which have begun to have purchased construction of buildings or land, earn a kind of mild or extension, such as the Minister had earlier promised, but the eight universities mentioned in the report, could have submitted no documentation to submit or incorrect documents, certainly deserves to be taken operation. If the Ministry would now dillydallies or backtracks measures, under pressure, under some new pretext, as it set a very bad example for the future implementation of the rules and regulations, especially as the directive is possible, keep the private universities up to speed since December last year.

It is also appropriate to back look what the inclusion of the obligation to operate from permanent campus, in the private universities Act 2010, first and foremost to prompted. In accordance with article 17 of the Constitution of the country, free and compulsory education for all children, as well as effective measures to education related to the needs of society and produce sets the state firmly committed to properly trained and motivated citizens to serve these needs there is no room for the commercialization of education or treat education as a consumer product profit-maximizing, taking into account the principles, to drive the such provisions. Private universities, initiated in 1992 on the background of the great discrepancy in the number of available seats at public universities in the country and the demand for higher education. While private universities certainly be scope for exact revenue for the services that they must provide, they must however, fact, their constitutional commitment by the Government guarantees certain standards of education, by the private universities comply with set.

Before the quality of education of the country ferried a product is out on the road and out of control device, should intervene the Government to its constitutional obligation in the framework of the needs of the society. The Government should certainly an example of some these errant universities, where appropriate, in phases, starting from the bottom up, make the institutions recognize the serious intent of the Government and their routes, mend. Also should the documents, which also regularly monitor of the universities, the Ministry of education, through the Committee to verify and, where appropriate, examine their progress, claims as heavily weighing it and fears that some of these institutions of country without serious intentions acquire shift its campus at these locations.
