Bangladesh workers receive, lowest wages in ASIA

The underlying connection what closed: A connection that was expected to be kept alive what closed by the server.

Bangladeshi products have a global recognition in the rest of the world. But the people who create these products are not getting beniitted in the way they deserve.  The minimum wage in Bangladesh is the lowest among all Asian countries, shows the international labour of organization's global wage report 2010/2011 released Wednesday.
The United Nations' labour wing that compiled data of 115 countries and territories said the overall worldwide growth in wages which halved in 2008 to 2009 due to the global financial meltdown, with some regions like Europe even posting a net drop in salaries.
The average minimum monthly $58 dare the report shows in Bangladesh in purchasing power parity is, less than that of the tiny kingdom of Bhutan and even the war-ravaged Afghanistan.
The report lists the minimum wages in 28 Asian countries, including those of the Middle East and the far East.
According to it, the minimum wage in Viet Nam and Laos, the nearest competitors to Bangladesh, is $84.
In South Asia, the minimum $229, Nepal wage in Pakistan is $151, India $121, Bhutan $108, Sri Lanka $93 and Afghanistan $89.
Among the far eastern countries, China has on average minimum monthly wage of $173 while Japan has the highest, $944, followed by $797 in South Korea.
The real average monthly minimum wage in Bangladesh has been on the slide, although its annual rate of instance had increased from-7.2 per cent in 2008 to-5.7 per cent in 2009, the report reveals.
It also says that the global growth in real average monthly wage declined from 2.8 per cent in 2007, before the recession, to 1.5 per cent in 2008 and 1.6 per cent in 2009.
An unusually high inflation due mainly to high fuel prices significantly cut the purchasing power in 2008. Whereas 'sharp declines in inflation' in 2009 helped prevent a more precipitous drop in wages during the year, the ILO said.
In industrialised economies, wages dropped by 0.5 per cent in 2008 before rising by 0.6 per cent in 2009.
In Eastern Europe and Central Asia, the wage growth-rate reached 17 per cent in 2007, then fell to 10.6 per cent in 2008 and turned negative in 2009, when depart declined by 2.2 per cent.
' The recession has not only been dramatic for the millions who lost their jobs but has also affected those who remained in employment by severely reducing their purchasing power and their general wellbeing,' observed ILO director general Juan Somavia.
The overall data what by dare 7.2 per cent in 2008 and 8.0 per cent in 2009 propped up growth in Asia, where real wages rose by.

India beats Australia

The target of 290 appeared to be stiff, especially when India were wobbling at 35 for 2 in the ninth over, but Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh maintained their sang froid to get India close before the adventurous Suresh Raina sealed the win in style. Kohli, in particular, impressed. He not only lost Yuvraj in the 34th over with India still 118 runs adrift of the target but also, by then, was suffering from severe cramps and was forced to bat with a runner. If those hurdles fazed him, he didn't show it and went on to clinch the game in the company of the Raina. More in ICC World Cricket

South Africa is almost out of the tournament | Pakistan beat South Africa by 11 runs

South Africa was one of the top favorite team to achieve the trophy of ICC World T20. But they are almost out of the tournament now. South Africa were knocked out of the World Twenty20 by living up to their reputation of coming up short in crunch matches with an inexplicably limp batting display after a Charl Langeveldt masterclass in end-innings bowling had kept Pakistan to a gettable total. The bedrock of the defending champions' first victory in the Super Eights were Saeed Ajmal's doosras and a sparkling Umar Akmal cameo, but Pakistan will also thank the redoubtable South African top-order for idling early in the chase. read details on ICC World Cricket

West Indies vs Ireland match analysis | ICC World T20

West Indies beat giant killer Ireland comfortably by 70 runs. Winning the toss West Indian starts the proceedings very consciously and scored only 138 from their twenty over. It looked like a chase-able score for Irish players. But West Indian bowlers just kicked away the hopes of getting anything for Ireland. Ireland becomes all out on just 68 runs. The captain Gayle didn't play due to a problem with his glutes, leaving Dwayne Bravo in charge, and there were thoughts of an upset when West Indies scrapped to 138 for 9 on a sluggish surface. There was a party atmosphere in the stands of the Providence stadium, but life was much more serious on the ground for the home batsmen, particularly when the 17-year-old George Dockrell was operating. read details on Dhaka News.
