Bangladeshi killed in Botswana

Botswana, Nov 4 (bdnews24.com)?A Bangladeshi national has been killed and three others have been seriously injured in two separate attacks by robbers at their residences in Botswana.


Akmol Hossain Molla, 42, a Bangladeshi businessman, was attacked at his house in a village, 40 km away from capital Gaborone, on Oct 30 and died in Princes Marina Hospital on Friday, his family said.


Akmol's wife was discharged from the hospital just before his death, Monirul Islam Bhuiyan, a press photographer who works there, quoted the wife as saying.


In another incident, Shamim Ahmed Khan and his wife were attacked in their house in Molepolole, 60 km away from the capital, the same night.


There are around 700 Bangladeshis working in the southern African country.


Two years back, another Bangladeshi businessman, Rifat Chowdary, was killed at the same village.


Akmol, from Parbera of Gobindaganj under Gaibandha district, had been living in Botswana for about eight years.


Shamim from Ghodia of Uzirpur under Barisal district is running his business in the African country.


A mid-sized, landlocked country of just over two million people, Botswana is one of the most sparsely populated countries in the world, according to Wikipedia.
